Travis Huber: A Battle-Tested Leader for Our Future


Born and raised in Ashland, Kentucky, Travis Huber is a steadfast patriot and proven leader. A 1984 graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School, he earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Teaching from Morehead State University. Since 1990, Travis has lived in Maysville, Kentucky, where he raised two independent daughters and resides with his wife, Laura. His deep Kentucky roots drive his commitment to serve our community.


Travis has built an impressive military career spanning over 30 years, characterized by exemplary leadership and dedication. Beginning with his enlistment in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, he served in significant operations during the early 1990s. Transitioning to the Kentucky Army National Guard, he earned a commission as a Second Lieutenant and took on critical leadership roles in multiple deployments to Iraq, overseeing key security and support missions. Later, as a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, he led a chemical battalion and now serves as a senior trainer with a training division. His distinguished service has been recognized with numerous accolades, including multiple Bronze Star Medals and Meritorious Service Medals, reflecting his commitment to excellence.


In addition to his military career, Travis excelled in education, teaching chemistry and physics before rising to superintendent of Gallatin County School District (2014-2017). There, he managed a $16 million budget, implemented free preschool, and established the ILEAD Academy, enabling high schoolers to earn associate degrees. He retired in 2022 and now farms and is a small business owner.
